Need help organizing my receipes- any suggestions?

I feel like a big lump! Rolling Eyes

I didn't end up going to church yesturday because we had Stake Confrence and I really needed a break. Bryan has to work from 7am tell 8pm. Long day being all alone with a child and no adult to talk too.

Newest project....working on getting my receipes organized. I collect receipes but hardly ever cook. Figure that one out. I really need to purge some of the receipes that I am never going to use. I was looking at some of them today and wondering to myself, "What was I thinking? Why did I think that sounded yummy?" And now that I am a mommy to a toddlerMom I HAVE NO TIME! Dinners need to be fast! Sadly this is very true.

Is there anyone out there who might have a suggestion on how I should organize my receipes. I am over whelmed! Any ideas?

I can't say I have any suggestions. I do however make a list of all the meals we like. And once a week before I go shopping I look at the list and make a menu for the week. It works really well, because I don't buy more than we need. Also, when dinner time comes I already know what I am going to make, and I don't have to think about it. If it ends up being something I really am not in the mood for that night, I just switch it with another night. It works for us.

We have the same gene's....I hord them as if they were gold....but never use them. Sheesh!! Toss them...you'll probably feel accomplished for cleaning out the mess and uncluttering your life. That's what I intend on doing....very...very...soon. :)

Hey!

I had this whole master plan where I was going to have four cute binders... one each for soup, salads, main disheds and desserts. So far it hasn't happened. Right now they are just in a big white three ring binder with sections... beverages, soups, salads, crockpot, main dishes, desserets and holiday recipes. It actually works pretty well for me.

The recipes that are written on recipes cards are kept in photo sleeves (like the 4x6 ones you can buy at Walmart) so usually there are four recipe cards to a page. Recipes that are printed out from the internet or from a recipe yahoo group that I"m on are just printed and slipped into an 8x11 page protector. And recipes that I cut out from magazines or whereever are kept in magnetic pages (like the ones that come in photo albums that we're not supposed to keep our photos in)... then each page is just put into the right section.

It actually works really well and everything is in one place.
