Smart Habit Saturday 5/12/2007

I did pretty good at working on my crocheted baby blanket that I am working on for the new baby girl we are waiting for. I didn't really work on it 15 minutes every day this week, but I did 4 days out of the 5 days. One of the days I worked on it for 30 minutes to make up for the one day that I didn't work on it.
So I will keep trying to do the 15 minutes each day, and then when I have the habit made, then I will increase it to 30 minutes a day, until I have it finished.
As for the new habit I want to work on .... reading my scriptures. I really need to think about this one, first before starting this one. I always start off really great and do really good for a few days and then something comes up in my daily life that messes up the process. I have tired to read them in the morning before I get my day started, but then my son decides to wake up at 5am or earlier, and it is really hard to read my scriptures while hearing a crying child. No peace in that. I have tried to read them when he goes down for his nap, but then I get side tracked with chores, or computer time, and then he is wakeing up, and I am running again. This week my hubby starts his new hours at work and I am hoping that I will be able to read my scriptures after I get "Bug" to bed each night. I think it will be a good way to whine down my day. My hubby will be working 2pm to midnight M-W so I know I can do it on these days, but he has Thursdays-Friday off, and Saturday he will be home at 8pm, and Sunday off at 4pm., so I will have to really try to continue this on those days. It is not that my husband makes me feel bad that I am reading my scriptures, it is just that I really enjoy cuddling on the couch with him after we get Bug to bed each night. This is our time. We watch the shows that we have recorded. I just have to remind myself that reading my scriptures are good for me and that I will still get to spend time with my hubby too. I will start off with 15 minutes and see how it goes.
Check back next week and see how well I did, and be sure to check out the other habits others are working on at The Lazy Organizer's Bog!

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for your comment on my blog! It means a lot to me! I am happy that you found me . . . and that I found you. I like your new habit to work on! I need to read my scriptures more too. It seems that it is always the first thing to go as the days get busy. I need to start waking up early to do it. Thanks for the inspirations!

I don't know how old your baby is but could you read your scriptures to him? It's never too early to start! My two year old sits on my lap or plays with toys while we read scriptures. Try it and see if it works for you. Kids (even babies) just love to listen to the sound of their mother's voice.
