Trunk or Treat

Our church (ward) had a Trunk or Treat activity this weekend. It was the best time I have had in a long time. For those of you who are not sure what a Trunk or Treat activity is, I will try to explain. People meet in a parking lot and decorate the trunks of their cars/vans/trucks, and pass out candy to the trick-or-treaters. The kids go from car to car and say “Trunk or Treat” and collect candy from each car.

It has been several years since the ward we belong to organized this event/activity. So there was much excitement about the event finally happening. We ended up having three wards participate (and many other non-members and others from other wards too). There were TONS of people, which made it so much fun.

The evening started at 5:00pm with dinner. The gym was set up with many round tables with Halloween decorations. Families signed up to bring either soup or chili in crock pots and they were set up on a long table for the people to dish themselves up! I made that Taco Soup and it turned out so Good! It was eaten all up. And I had a couple people come up to me and tell me how much they enjoyed it. That made me feel good.

At 6:00pm we had a costume parade. Bug was dressed up in his Bee costume and looked so cute! He got many comments on his costume too. Then we all headed out into the halls of the church building to participate in games and win prizes. Bug played Pumpkin Bowling, Ghost Bowling, Ghost Lollipops (made a ghost out of a lollipop), Spider Walk (cake walk), Scary Ghost Stories, Leaf Rubbings. He loved the story time! Amazingly, he sat there and looked at the books while the Story Witch read the stories. We did this activity two times.

Then the real fun began at 7:00pm! We headed out to the parking lot and the Trunk or Treating had already begun. Some people started early. Bryan wanted to decorate our Van Trunk so he grabbed a dark sheet and pinned it up. He took some pumpkins and some spider web stuff and decorated the trunk. I had bought some candy to let him pass out while Bug and I went Trunk or Treating! Bug did so good! He held my hand and his Pumpkin Bucket and went up to each trunk and said “Trick or Treat” and then “Thank you” after he got his candy. I was so proud of him. There were tons and tons of kids and it did get a bit scary from time to time with the number of kids but we just skipped ahead and things were better with less kids. Bryan was out of candy before we got all the way around the parking lot. He was amazed how many kids where there. Bug got some GOOD candy! He got to go through two times because our van was stuck in the middle to the parking lot and there were a lot of kids still trick or treating. Daddy went with him the second time and I got some pictures of him.

Bug has been so nice to share his candy with us his loving Mommy and Daddy! LOL! ;)

I'm glad Bug had fun at Trunk or Treat. That is so much fun! Did you go door to door at all this year, or is Bug still to little? I am thinking of doing door to door next year as Dom will be almost three.
Let me know how your family pics. went!
