Calling all Super Heros!

Bug briecfly attended a Super Hero Party today. I say briefly, because, well, he was scared out of his little mind with the whole experience. He didn't like the masks that some of the kids were wearing (Hulk) and some of the super heros (adults dressed up as Spiderman, Batman, Batgirl, Hulk, Captin America) really freaked him out.

He started out ok, with the group setting, coloring and enjoying the treats in the goodie bags, but when the loud banging started and Commisionar Gordon started talking, it really made him nervous. Comm. Gordon said that Venom had gotten into the building and that he needed his junior super hero helpers to be on the look out.

We headed to a gym to play one of the first games. It was in a jumping castle, but Bug didn't want anything to do with it. Spiderman (one of the adults dressed up) really freaked him out, because he was in a crouching position and wearing a mask. Bug kept calling him Venom. But then we saw the real Venom up in a window of the gym and Bug went hysterical. I felt so bad for him because he was REALLY scared! He ran out of the gym so fast screaming.

I managed to calm him down and we were going to leave, so we headed down stairs to get our stuff when we walked right into the person playing Venom. He was so nice and helped Bug not to be scared of him. He took off his mask and showed Bug that he was a real person just dressed up playing. Bug even gave him a "HIGH Five!"

Thinking everything was ok, we headed back up stairs, but when he saw Spiderman again he freaked...he kept calling him Venom...I think he was confused.

At that point with now two kids crying...Ladybug was with me and was not upset too because of Bug being so upset, Bug finally said he wanted to go HOME!

I am bumbed he didn't stay but I totall understand how he felt. I don't want to force him to do something that is so scary to him. I remember being so scared one Halloween by a person dressed up in a gorilla costume. I was older than Bug is now, but it still was scary!

Maybe next year he will not be so scared. We will see.

Here is a few pictures I got before he got to scared.
