Mother's Day became a very difficult day for me each year after my hubby and I started to try to have our own children 6 years ago. Before this it was always about me honoring my own mother and letting her know just how greatful I was for putting up with me day in and day out. It was about making fun things to show how much I loved her. The ideas for gifts got more difficult to come up with as I got older and moved out of my parent's home and became a single adult, and then even more difficult when I got married, and started to try and have children of my own. I soon got wrapped up in my own "Pitty party", about how unfair Mother's Day is for those who want to be a Mother and for what ever reason are not, YET. I was quickly reminded that Mother's Day is not just about the women who have bore children, but the ones who care for children, either as teachers, nursery workers, daycare providers, grandmothers, aunts, Girl Friends, Co-workers. They are ALL Women. So now I honor Womanhood, the ability to nurture.
This year I celebrate Officially being Bug's Mother. It is wonderful to know that we are a family, no matter how we all came together. Looking back on the past few years I am greatful to Heavenly Father for how He has helped me to grow from the experiences of bringing my children to me. I can look back now.....and see His hand in every detail. It helps me to look ahead and not be so fearful on how my future will be, and how the next child will come and how difficult things could be with the situation of Foster Care and Adoption for that child. I know He will be with me all along the way, and this gives me comfort.
Here are a few pictures that I wanted to post from this past week.

thank you for your post! i, too, have struggled with the mother's day concept. my cute husband and i have been married for 5 years and do not have any children. however, i feel like i will be the best aunt, friend and teacher i can be!
i am honoring my mom today, because she is an amazing example to me. i love her, so how can i not be grateful for those things that i HAVE been given.
thanks for voicing the concerns that so many of us have.
I liked you Mother's Day Post....thanks. Your blog will not let me post any

won't let me do it. :(
