Super woman or just a frantic Mother?

What would you do if you hear your 1 year old baby crying in her room, and you can't get to her because your older son has locked the bedroom door. The nob locks from the inside and you are in the hallway. Your son is also in the hall way, and the nob needs a key to unlock it. There is no screws so you can't use a screw driver to take the nob off. All you hear is screaming..thinking the worst. Did your son somehow hurt your frantic daughter who is on the other side of this door you can't OPEN to save your life. You rush outside to see if you can get in the window, but the window is right over the basement egresses window and you can't get to the ladder to place in the egresses area to try and open the window. You do realize that the window is locked too when you try to push it open. But you can hear with all clarity like you are standing right next to your baby her screams.

Then you run back inside to the door and with all your strength you ram the door with your right shoulder. Once, twice, and on the third time the door pops! You swoop your baby up in your arms...and rush out of the room into the living room to get yourself as far away from that stupid door.

Can I ask again, WHY does this house we are renting have locks on all the doors and WE DON'T HAVE KEYS TO ANY OF THEM!!!! There is locks on every bedroom door, the bathroom door, the basement door, and the linen closet. Who would lock themselves inside the linen closet??? Why do you need a lock on a linen closet! I have talked to the rental agency about getting new nobs..but they have just ignored me. Not returned my calls. Well know they have a busted door frame for them to deal with.

This was not the first time that Bug has locked doors in this rental. But this was the first time that someone was trapped inside. Uggggg.

BOXES!

Busy packing. We have a truck rented for this Wednesday to move out of our house and into the rental house. Even though we don't have to be out tell the 28th.
I can't believe our house sold so fast. 4 days. Makes my head spin.
I am excited about the change, because change is always good. It helps me to step out of my comfort zone. I need to get things done for the move, get boxes, call companies to move addresses, and ask for help from friends. The last one is the hardest for me. I find it so difficult to ask for help. I can't explain really why it makes me feel so uncomfortable. Even when people offer to help I feel strange. I feel like I need to do it all myself. I don't want to be a burden to anyone.
I did try something different this time since I am going crazy...literal. The kids are making me crazy while I have been packing. This is my first move with kids. And two of them too. My visiting teachers offered to help me out with the kids and also my friend Alyson will be helping us out for the next two days. THANK GOODNESS!
Bug seems excited about the move. He keeps talking about his new blue/green room.
We will see if it will last.

I dislike moving. I am sure you all can relate. But it will be a very good thing. As the decision to move was made several issues with the neighborhood has surfaced. The latest one was on Friday of last week when I was trying to get Ladybug out of the car (her seat is on the street side) and as I was pulling her out a car came speeding up to the van. Our street is very, very narrow. I mouthed, "SLOW DOWN!" The guy went past still way to fast, then stopped and backed up. I thought "GREAT! A guy who wants to have a confrontation. Just what I need, to complete this stressful day." He says to me, "I was not driving fast. It just sounds like I was. I have kids of my own and I don't drive fast. I was not driving fast." I just looked at him stone faced and said, "Everyone drives to fast on this street." And just stared at him. He realized I was not to be messed with. He finally agreed he was driving to fast and drove away. I am so done living on this street. So change is a good thing regarding this situation.
If you don't see a post for the next few days please now I am thinking about all my blogging friends. Wishing I was blogging instead of packing and moving.

Soap Box

I realize that I am not the most eloquent writers but I do have things I am passionate about and things that move me in ways that some times surprise me and other times seem completely normal.

I remember when my husband and I were filling out paper work to become Foster Parents. One of the questions read something like this, "Di scribe your spouse personality." Bryan wrote something to the extent that I was quite and sweet most of the time, but if you got me angry you were in trouble. That my real hair color said it all...RED, and I could get up in arms about things I felt were unjust and unfair. I think I laughed at his description of me, but you know, I think he has me right. I am willing to let things slide and forgive most people, but if you hurt me or my children again, I am quick to lash out!

I received a flyer in the mail about some new sales tax initiative that the Cancer Action network, American heart Association and the American Cancer Society is trying to get passed. I big bold letters it said on one side of the flyer, "Cut Smoking. Not Prevention" Then on the other side it says, "A $1 per pack cigarette tax increase will curb smoking and protect health care programs." As I read I got more and more upset. I don't have the space to write everything the flyer said, but I want to share why I think they are wrong in stating that the tax increase will curb the smoking and protect health care programs.

People are still going to buy cigarettes even if the tax increases. I really dought that it will cause to many people to quite smoking, and even if it does it is a really cruel way to make them quite. Cigarettes are more addictive than most people think. It can be very difficult and painful for some to quit. I have never smoked a cigarette in my life, but I have grown up in a home where both my parents smoked. Back in the 70's when I was born (ouch, I am showing my age) it was not looked upon unfavorable to smoke, like it is now a days. And I am sure most of us have seen some type of old movie where the actors where smoking and it was portrayed as sexy and young, and healthy. Times have changed and our society has begun to kick out smokers from restaurants, airplanes, hotels, and so much more. I know how difficult it is for the smokers out there to get help for quiting. My mother has tried a few times to quit but always seems to find her self returning to this nasty habit.

I guess I just don't like the fact that they want to tax the people who need help. I don't think it is the most just thing to do. The type of people who smoke tend to me lower class people (I really hate saying that because I don't want to stereotype) and they want to charge them more for this addictive habit when they can barley make ends meet as it is...such as groceries, etc... I see this sales tax causing them to become thieves rather than non-smokers. I know I am taking this to personally, but I picture my van being broken into again and my items stolen to sell so they have money to buy cigarettes. I am crazy to think this, but I just don't know how you can punish someone who can't help that they are addicted to cigarettes. I think we need to help these people quit. More support, more help. And continue to educate youth about the harms of smoking cigarettes, continue to make it seem like such a bad habit no one wants to even give it a try once time.

Like I said, I am no fancy writer, and I might be living in my little bubble of a world, but I just had to take the time to express my feelings over this new tax increase. I think the flyer is misleading and not completely accurate.
